Basmati Restaurant
About
Basmati Restaurant on Birmingham Road in Great Barr has been serving north Birmingham since 2002, and it is one of the most decorated Bangladeshi restaurants in the city. It won Best of Birmingham at the English Curry Awards in both 2023 and 2024, was a finalist for Bangladeshi Restaurant of the Year in 2025, and was named Outstanding Restaurant of the Year at the 2026 English Curry Awards. The menu covers the full range of Bengali and British curry-house cooking, from tandoori grills and biryani to the balti, Birmingham's own contribution to curry history. Diners can eat in or order a takeaway. For anyone who wants to see what an award-winning neighbourhood curry house looks like, Basmati is well worth the trip to B43.
